#SummerOffice: Summer Colour Inspirations for the office

The colours that we surround ourselves with at home and in the office have a great impact on our mood. Good office design but also the right choice of shades may determine whether workers will feel agitated, soothed or more focused at work. Read our summer inspirational series #SummerOffice to find out why it is a good idea to try out some new, unusual combinations.

Studies by the Nowy Styl Group have shown that an attractive office is a factor 76% of people consider when choosing a new employer1. A well-thought-out colour concept can be one of the aspects of an attractive office design. An employer investing in the office can also shape the so-called “candidate experience”, ie. the first impression of a potential employee.

Not only do colours change our mood, but they can also affect our productivity at work.  It is therefore extremely important for work space to be inviting and encourage people to stay in it in a variety of ways. Colours are just one of these ways! Well-matched to the function of space, they can contribute to raising the attractiveness of individual zones within the office.

Observation of the immediate surroundings and nature is a great source of inspiration. Summer is the time of an explosion of flavours and colours. Hot weather and sunshine encourage people, and that includes employees, to act and to think optimistically. It is a good idea to make use of that energy, shifting it into the office.

A little pink and orange

Soft pink with orange is our first suggestion, inspired by the summer aura.

- Orange stimulates positive energy as it is associated with joy, satisfaction and cheerfulness - said Joanna Zapała, Interior Designer at the Nowy Styl Group. - Combined with pastel pink, it supports creativity but also quietens the energizing orange, the excess of which could have the opposite effect. These colours will work great for creative spaces in offices, such as brainstorming rooms. These shades can also perfectly complement some darker interiors we would like to enliven a little.

With a view to the well-being of personnel and their work efficiency, employers should design various concentrated work areas in the office. While doing so, they should not be afraid to use non-standard colour solutions. As shown by our research, 60% of respondents say access to a creative or mental work area in the office is important. (Nowy Styl Group data based on the analysis of responses provided by 853 employees of different companies, 2017).
